We developed an interactive solution for visualizing and exploring neuroimaging data using photo-realistic volumetric rendering in an immersive virtual reality environment.
Why is it important?
The goal of the project was to create an intuitive and responsive system for interacting with 3D MRI scans in real time, leveraging modern GPU rendering techniques and VR hardware.
How does this work?
The final system allows users to load a volumetric scan and freely manipulate it in real time — adjusting the size, orientation, and transfer function to better analyze structures of interest. Users can scale and rotate the volume naturally using VR hand controls, and dynamically adjust rendering parameters such as opacity and brightness to enhance visibility of internal features.
