On November 8, 2023, The University of Arkansas at Little Rock hosted its Discover Day event. Discover Day is meant to give prospective students the opportunity to learn about scholarship opportunities, tour campus facilities, and engage with the academic community.

Discover Day is a highly anticipated event, which draws hundreds of students and their families to the UA Little Rock campus every year. Nearly 1000 students and guests were in attendance at the last Discover Day.

The EAC booth showed two VR/AR applications that have been completed in recent years. Crime Scene 360 is an interactive virtual reality app where participants assume an investigative role and collect clues and conduct interviews at a realistic crime scene to uncover the truth behind the mystery. Crime Scene 360 is a collaboration between UA Little Rock’s School of Criminal Justice and Criminology and the Emerging Analytics Center.

Another VR/AR application that was shown at Discover Day was Maximus AR. Maximus AR is an augmented reality app where people can take pictures with a Maximus model that appears as if it’s in the real world. Both applications showed prospective students how VR/AR can be used in various fields, from education to entertainment.

EAC Researchers present various VR/AR applications to Discover Day attendees.
