Emerging Analytics Center Welcomes Local High Schools for Immersive AR/VR applications

The Emerging Analytics Center (EAC) at UA Little Rock recently hosted students from the Morrilton High School and the Metropolitan Career-Technical Center to give a firsthand look at our virtual-reality and augmented-reality (VR/AR) applications and hardware.

During their visits, students explored a variety of immersive applications including Anatomical Eyes and the River Environment. Applications were showcased in our 26-projector Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE), which creates fully immersive virtual-reality environments allowing users to immersively interact with digital environments.

In addition to experiencing our CAVE, students also explored interactive Project360 applications including CrimeScene 360 and Campus 360. CrimeScene 360, developed in collaboration with UA Little Rock’s School of Criminal Justice and Criminology, is a mystery-solving application where participants are able to investigate a simulated crime scene. Campus 360 is a virtual tour of the UA Little Rock campus, which allows prospective students and their parents to explore our campus amenities. These applications are showcasing the versatility of VR in education, exploration, and problem-solving.

Students were also playing a few rounds of Spook Splat AR, an AR whack-a-mole game, where they competed for the highest score. The day concluded with a group photo together with our digital Maximus, UA Little Rock’s mascot, through the Maximus AR app.

The Emerging Analytics Center continues to serve as a hub for innovation, providing educational and professional opportunities to empower students and communities alike. For more information about the Emerging Analytics Center and its programs, visit eac.ualr.edu.
