Mohammed Jahed Murad Sunny holds his Student Research and Creative Works award certificate.

Mohammed Jahed Murad Sunny received 1st place in the Graduate Research Poster Presentation category at this year’s UA Little Rock Student Research and Creative Works Signature Experience. His poster titled, “Non-linear Parameterization of Spatial Decision-Making in Immersive Virtual Environments” delved into the intricacies of how individuals navigate and make decisions in virtual mazes, comparing experiences in immersive virtual reality (VR) setups to those in traditional non-immersive environments.

Reflecting on his achievement, Sunny highlights three factors he focused on in preparation for his presentation. Firstly, the originality and relevance of his research to the current technological landscape. Secondly, he elucidated complex concepts and methodologies from an approachable perspective. Lastly, he received feedback from others within his research group and department to refine his ideas and presentation.

Sunny notes several key influences for his success throughout his research process. He thanked his mentor, Dr. Arya Basu, for his guidance and support. As well as support from the Emerging Analytics Center, for providing an excellent research environment for conducting his research.

“This award is a significant milestone for me both personally and professionally. It validates our [team’s] hard work and belief in the project, and it motivates me to further explore and contribute to the field of Virtual Reality,” Sunny remarked.
